Day Services

Indiana MENTOR’s adult day services offer a wide variety of structured activities, social interaction and skill-building opportunities that enrich the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Our center- and community-based day services create an atmosphere that offers structure and excitement for program participants who look forward to seeing friends and staff members each day.

Individualized Programs and Activities

Our modern locations are designed to meet a range of individualized skills.  We place a priority on community involvement and provide an array of engaging activities to help individuals reach their goals while developing new hobbies and interests.   Depending on an adult’s Individualized Service Plan (ISP), he or she may take part in goal-driven classes or activities involving:

  • Reading
  • Arts & crafts
  • Computer training
  • Physical fitness
  • Cooking
  • Personal appearance

We also provide opportunities for individuals to be responsible for tasks within our day programs, giving them a sense of ownership and pride.

Therapeutic Services and Support

Our staff provides personalized support and individualized training to boost individuals’ confidence and help them learn new skills.  In addition, we encourage adults to participate in group activities where they can interact with peers and the community.  We incorporate structured learning and fun to help individuals reach personal goals that include:

  • Developing vocational skills
  • Becoming aware of personal safety
  • Strengthening communication skills
  • Learning alternative behavior strategies
  • Improving independent living skills
  • Enhancing mobility

We also offer active treatment and therapeutic services—including motor skills development and social rehabilitation—as well as sensory activities to individuals whose needs are more involved or to those who exhibit challenging behaviors.
Our goal is to ensure that adults can attend the day program of their choosing.  We help each person find an adult day program that is right for them and meet goals that change their lives for the better.
